About the Opportunity

Sperling Industries Ltd. currently has an immediate opportunity for multiple experienced Field Laborers/Welders to join our team based out of Sperling, Manitoba on a permanent, full-time basis. We are looking for capable individuals with previous experience involving the erection of structural steel and job site maintenance.  

Successful candidates can work 8-10 hour day shifts at various sites in multiple provinces.  Overtime is common and the successful candidate must be able to accommodate longer shifts and time away from home.  Turnaround schedules vary, but typically range from 8-11 days on, 3 days off.  Competitive compensation for lodging and meals is provided by the company, and company transportation is available.  Travel time is paid.

As a Field Laborer, your day-to-day responsibilities could include:

• Follow instructions from site foreman and provide support to other team members
• Create, read and understand all job hazard assessments while following all applicable safety procedures and practices
• Operate hand/power tools(rigging equipment, drills, angle grinders, cutting torches)
• Ability to adapt and learn new tasks in order to progress the on-site workflow
• Load/unload construction materials as well as general site maintenance and clean up
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment    

About You

As our ideal candidate, you will be able to confidently work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, and have the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment.

You will join us with the following skills or experience:

• General labor skills in the construction industry are an asset
• Welding knowledge, experience and proof of skills would be an asset
• Must be able to read, write and speak English
• CWB tickets would be an asset
• Must be hard working, reliable, punctual and safety conscious
• Ability to work independently as well as with others
• Available to work extended shifts, and weekends when necessary
• Must be able to climb stairs/ladders and lift/carry 50lbs on a regular basis
• Certificates related to the steel industry or experience running equipment would be considered an asset.
