About the Opportunity

Sperling Industries Ltd. currently has an immediate opportunity for experienced Welders to join our team based out of Sperling, Manitoba on a permanent, full-time basis

Successful candidates can work 8-hour day shifts from 7:00am to 3:30pm Monday - Friday or 10 hour evening shifts Monday - Thursday from 3:15pm-1:15am.  The successful candidate must be able to accommodate occasional longer shifts. 

As a Welder, your day-to-day responsibilities could include:

  • Follow work instructions from the shop supervisor and blueprints in order to complete the assembly and fabrication of components/equipment in an efficient manner.
  • Work with Carbon Steel and Stainless Steel - cutting, bending, welding and cleaning
  • Follow Safe Work Policies, Practices and Procedures while performing all tasks
  • Create, read and understand all job hazard assessments while following all applicable safety procedures and practices
  • Handle hazardous materials safely
  • Operate hand/power tools(rigging equipment, drills, angle grinders, cutting torches)
  • Ability to adapt and learn new tasks in order to progress the on-site workflow
  • Prioritize and schedule responsibilities
  • Work as part of a team and complete extra tasks when possible and time permits
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment    

About You

As our ideal candidate, you will be able to confidently work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, and have the ability to make decisions based on sound judgment.

You will join us with the following skills or experience:

  • General labor skills in the construction industry are an asset
  • MCAW CWB tickets or the ability to pass testing immediately is preferred 
  • GTAW experience or tickets is an asset
  • Past experience with fitting and welding structural steel and/or food grade SS equipment is highly desirable but we are willing to train the correct candidate 
  • Must be able to read and speak English
  • Must be reliable, punctual and safety conscious 
  • Available to work extended shifts when necessary
  • Must be able to climb stairs/ladders and lift/carry 50lbs on a regular basis
  • Certificates related to the steel industry or experience running equipment would be considered an asset.
